Liz Cheney seems to have missed the memo that her time in the political spotlight expired quite some time ago. In a world where staying relevant often means aligning oneself with the populist sentiments of the party, Cheney has opted for a different approach: she’s busy cozying up with the liberal elite while taking every opportunity to vilify Donald Trump. It’s a train wreck that conservative Americans can only shake their heads at, wondering what little remnants of a once-Republican figure she’s clinging to.
Recently, her antics made headlines yet again when Cheney made an appearance on ABC News, where she expressed her not-so-shocking disdain for Trump. In a disingenuous display, she insisted that she remains a conservative and life-long Republican, despite repeatedly throwing her weight behind the extreme left, endorsing none other than Democrat Kamala Harris. The irony is almost too rich; she labels herself a conservative while lining up with an administration that embodies everything conservatives oppose.

During her interview with Jon Karl, Cheney was asked whether she would still identify as a Republican, especially after her promise to leave the party if Trump became the nominee. The response was typical of her ongoing charade, as she claimed her conservative credentials while simultaneously spouting nonsensical rhetoric against Trump. She suggested that any Republican who dares to write in a candidate rather than vote for Trump is somehow succumbing to a moral crisis. It’s almost as if she believes voting for your conscience is a betrayal of the ideals that once held the Republican Party together.
Cheney’s bizarre stance is particularly confounding given the backdrop of a crowded Republican field that overwhelmingly supports Trump. Instead of recognizing the will of the party base, she chooses to stand on a soapbox of elitism, insisting that those who support Trump are abandoning the Constitution. The audacity here is remarkable, especially since she now finds herself in the minority among her fellow Republicans. With each comment, she digs a deeper hole, alienating herself from the principled conservatives who won’t be swayed by her disingenuous posturing.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a key voice during Trump’s presidency, was quick to respond to Cheney’s antics, going beyond mere surface-level criticism. She aptly pointed out that the excessive attention placed on Kamala Harris’s debate prep signifies the Democrats’ weakness in the face of a strong Trump campaign. Sanders made a compelling case that Trump’s record speaks for itself, contrasting it starkly with the mess that is Harris. This isn’t mere political banter; it underscores the real issues that Americans care about, showing how wholly unqualified Cheney’s Democratic endorsement really is.
Ultimately, Cheney’s attempts to rebrand herself as a conservative Republican while supporting the most radical Democrat in the race are about as credible as a fish claiming to be a bird. The conservative movement would do well to distance itself from such dangerous associations. After all, being a conservative means fighting for the principles that underpin the party, not trading them away for fleeting media attention and favor among the establishment’s elite. Liz Cheney’s political ambitions are now clearer than ever: she seeks to preserve her status within the establishment by siding with those who are determined to dismantle everything real conservatives stand for.
