Mainstream Media Desperation Turns Routine Trump Chat Into Scandal

In the latest episode of “How Can We Make Trump Look Bad This Week?”, a supposed leak of a Signal chat involving senior officials has been weaponized by mainstream media outlets desperate to find a scandal. Led by Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic, who has a knack for sensationalism courtesy of his past role in propagating the notorious “Russia collusion” narrative, the coverage of this chatroom debacle has stirred considerable ruckus among the left. It seems nothing excites them quite like a chance to portray Trump’s team as bumbling fools.

The essence of the leak revolves around an unremarkable Signal conversation discussing matters that were quite public, demonstrating that not all conversations in the Trump administration warrant a bombshell headline. In fact, the only real takeaway from this exposure is that Signal, which had been recommended as a secure communication channel by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, was being properly utilized by the administration to discuss what was, at best, routine. If only mainstream media could grasp the concept of “not newsworthy” as well as they grasped the idea of “hit pieces”.

While the alarmists are out in full force trying to turn a kerfuffle over trivial chatter into a full-blown scandal, the truth is that when the conversation took a turn for the classified, the officials involved handled it appropriately by noting they needed a more secure platform for sensitive discussions. One can only chuckle at how the media spins this knowing they are sitting on a zero-scoops score from this chat and must desperately grasp at straws to stir outrage.

The real fun, however, is the notion of the “canary trap.” This classic intelligence technique involves deliberately leaking innocuous information with identifiable markers to smoke out a leak. With Goldberg on the other end, this smacks of an operational move straight out of the counterintelligence playbook. One can’t help but wonder if the Trump team serves their critics a hefty dose of red herring now and then just to keep them on their toes, contemplating who the real masterminds are on the “high side” of the conversation.

In summary, far from rocking the Trump administration, this supposed leak appears to serve as a clever intelligence ploy designed to differentiate between actual intelligence breaches and mere attempts at political sabotage. While the left remains fixated on making mountains out of molehills, the savvy minds within the Trump camp may have just played a piano while the critics were busy standing on their soapboxes, singing off-key. Stay tuned as this game of political chess evolves, as it’s likely that the real moves will not involve a Signal chat, but rather the career progression of those in the know.
