The 2024 election season has wrapped up, and it turns out that America has officially chosen Donald J. Trump as its 47th president. In surprising twists that would make any political analyst’s head spin, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and even Nevada were all swept under the red wave, contributing to Trump’s impressive victory. He has managed to secure over 270 electoral votes and, against all logic, Kamala Harris’s campaign seems unable to muster a mathematical miracle to overturn the results. Yet, the liberal media finds itself awkwardly dragging its feet in declaring the obvious.

Despite the clear outcome, major news networks are turning into the world’s biggest sore losers. CNN, MSNBC, and their equally liberal counterparts seem stuck in a bizarre bubble where math doesn’t apply. While the American people are celebrating Trump’s return to power, these networks are stuck on repeat, desperately trying to replay the election in their heads as if it might magically yield a different result. One can almost feel the tension radiating from their studios as they engage in gymnastics of reasoning that would make an Olympic gymnast envious.

The real spectacle is watching these so-called journalists plunge deeper into election denialism. Networks like CNN, AP, NBC, and CBS have concocted a smorgasbord of excuses to explain why they aren’t declaring Trump’s victory. They seem to be competing for the title of the most absurd spin. It’s as if they believe if they keep the denial going long enough, they can convince the American public that facts are merely suggestions. Meanwhile, Trump’s supporters are left chuckling at the spectacle, confident in knowing that their candidate has decisively secured the win.
The frustration on the faces of these pundits could inspire a new dramatic series. If Jake Tapper had his way, there’d be a 24/7 broadcast dedicated solely to lamenting the decline of journalistic integrity. With each passing hour of denial, it becomes clearer that these networks have ran out of excuses and are holding onto hope like a lifebuoy. They can analyze Trump’s overwhelming margins in states like Wisconsin all they want; the reality is clear. He’s won, they lost, and yet the tortured souls over at CNN are still attempting to find a framing that doesn’t involve admitting defeat.
As the clock strikes five in the morning and the coffee barrels run dry, one can’t help but wonder how thick one’s skin has to be to still ignore such a straightforward reality. The election is over, the outcomes are in, and ultimately, the mainstream media is left holding an empty bag. Instead of coming to terms with Trump’s undeniable victory, they are left sounding more like a broken record, desperately dishing out defenses that even an amateur statistician could dismantle within minutes. It seems like the only thing left to do is sit back, grab the popcorn, and watch this theater of denial play out on screens across the country.
