Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Exit: Will Anyone Really Miss Her?

Marjorie Taylor Greene just walked out of the office. It’s about time. She was more filler than thriller for the Republican ranks. More of a firecracker at a Fourth of July picnic than the main event. MTG might have collected a few sound bites here and there, but never managed to gather the sagacity worth quoting. Instead, she got herself tangled up by going head-to-head against someone who practically invented the modern political spat—Donald Trump. Not the smartest move.

She decided to challenge Trump on his decision to arrest Nicolás Maduro. Now, let’s be honest here: catching a dictator isn’t exactly launching World War III. The conservative base doesn’t want endless entanglements, but they’re also not afraid of decisive action when needed. MTG seemed to confuse smart, tactical moves with those that dragged on interminably. She found an audience among those who see war in every shadow, but it’s a niche group at best, certainly not the mainstream conservative groundswell she seemed to assume.

Now, some folks on the left are probably celebrating, thinking they’ve used her for all she’s worth. They love their so-called Republican critiques, so long as they don’t have to take the blame for them. But in reality, the conservative movement doesn’t stand on the shoulders of one Marjorie Taylor Greene—or bend to her fringe theories. Her entire narrative has only served to give the hard left a brief bit of amusement, nothing of lasting value.

Conservatives don’t mind cleaning house, and they do it without hesitation. This isn’t like the left, where every unhinged statement is met with squirming justifications. People on the right don’t have qualms about calling out the crazy. When someone starts peddling wild ideas about conspiracies that sound more like science fiction, it’s time to kick them out of the tent. There’s a difference between being bold and being outlandish.

As MTG exits stage left, conservatives can breathe a little easier. Maybe it’s a reminder that in politics, some distractions are not only unnecessary, but they’re an outright burden. Will the die-hard MTG fanbase remember her in tomorrow’s news cycle? Who knows? Perhaps they’ll write her heartfelt letters. Or maybe—just maybe—they’ll realize it’s time to get back to the business of making America greater than ever.
