In yet another absurd move by progressives in the education system, certain school districts in Massachusetts are implementing “affinity groups” for white teachers. Affinity groups have historically been aimed at bringing people from diverse backgrounds together to work towards common goals. However, these new “anti-racist” affinity groups are specifically targeting white teachers and staff members, with the intention of having them confront their alleged inherent whiteness and become more anti-racist.

The Boston Public Schools and Public Schools of Brookline both promote these affinity groups on their websites, emphasizing the creation of “anti-racist” spaces. They even provide a list of statements that white employees should reflect on, such as feeling guilty or sad about their whiteness or wanting to examine their own racial habits and awareness. These districts have also implemented similar racial affinity groups for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and LGBTQ staff members.
The purpose of these affinity groups, according to the Great Schools Partnership, is to provide a space for people of the same race to find connection and support. However, it is important to note that these groups are not designed to help individuals assess their own behavior and become less racist. Instead, they aim to convince white employees that they are inherently racist, promoting a self-loathing attitude and playing on white guilt.
These affinity groups bear a striking resemblance to the “struggle sessions” used in Communist regimes, where individuals were publicly humiliated and forced to confess their supposed sins. While affinity groups may not be as extreme as those sessions, their objectives are the same: to make people more compliant and easier to control. By pushing these groups onto white teachers, the education system is essentially indoctrinating them with progressive propaganda and making it easier for them to pass it on to their students.
It is disheartening to see that the education system, which should be focused on fostering unity and equality, is instead perpetuating divisive and damaging ideologies. The promotion of these affinity groups for white teachers is yet another example of the left’s obsession with identity politics and their desire to control every aspect of people’s lives. It is crucial that parents and conservatives push back against these harmful practices and fight for a more inclusive and unbiased education system.
