The ordeal began promptly at 10:25 a.m. when authorities received a call reporting gunfire. With commendable speed, police officers arrived on the scene in just over thirty seconds. By 10:33 a.m., the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, was neutralized in the church parking lot.
As the situation unfolded, the grim reality of the incident became clear. Initial reports indicated ten individuals had suffered gunshot wounds. Sadly, two of those victims have passed away, with one succumbing to injuries at a local hospital. The community is now left processing the loss of life and the injuries inflicted, as seven individuals remain hospitalized in stable condition, while one is sadly in critical condition.
