Senator Mitt Romney's recent op-ed in The Wall Street Journal, calling for a thinning out of the Republican presidential primary to hinder Donald Trump's nomination, has caused quite a stir. Now, it appears that Romney is extending his criticism to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a new tell-all biography titled "Romney: A Reckoning." In the book, Romney shares his criticisms of DeSantis, indicating a lack of warmth between them and even suggesting that DeSantis appears uncomfortable when taking selfies with voters in Iowa. Romney also raises concerns about DeSantis possibly having authoritarian tendencies, although acknowledging that he may be more intelligent than Trump.
Romney's criticisms aren't limited to DeSantis; the biography also reveals his issues with several prominent Republican figures, including Senator JD Vance, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Senator Ted Cruz, former Governor Mike Huckabee, former Governor Bobby Jindal, former Senator Rick Santorum, former Governor Rick Perry, and former Governor John Kasich. Notably, all of these individuals competed against Romney for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012 but ultimately lost to him. Romney himself later lost to President Barack Obama in the general election.

While Romney's critiques have attracted attention, it's important to note that the DeSantis War Room X Twitter account appears to be taking them in stride, with some speculating that Romney's strong feelings against DeSantis may even be interpreted as a veiled endorsement. Furthermore, it's worth mentioning that Romney, at 76 years old, has announced that he will not seek re-election to the Senate.
