However, leave it to MSNBC’s own joyless host, Joy Reid, to turn a day of remembrance into a pitiful attempt at hyperbolic political theater. On this particular day, when people were rightly focused on honoring the millions affected by atrocities under Adolf Hitler, Reid decided to misuse history as a political weapon — and, as usual, the results were painful to watch.
Reid kicked off her segment with the question, “But how did Hitler do it?” In her typically dramatic fashion, she suggested the German dictator was able to wreak chaos because everyday Germans wanted to “make Germany great again” and trusted business leaders who thought they could tame him. It’s almost as if she believes Americans today are just one misguided election away from a new version of the Third Reich. The unintended irony here is palpable; could it be that she didn’t notice that this kind of bombastic rhetoric has a way of backfiring? Apparently, she missed that memo back in November.
Then, in a dazzling display of historical revisionism wrapped in a thin veneer of self-importance, Reid proceeded to identify the chilling similarities between Hitler’s rise to power and… drumroll please… Donald Trump’s presidency. Forget context and nuance; for Reid, American conservatism is just a replay of the Nazi playbook. Her contention? That fears stoked by financial crises and national indignation inevitably lead to dictatorship. It would seem that she has traded good sense for yet another chance to whip up anti-Trump hysteria.
But wait, there’s more! Reid also decided to drag Elon Musk into her tirade by repeating baseless claims of him giving Nazi salutes on Inauguration Day. This strange connection would have left anyone wondering how low MSNBC has truly sunk in terms of journalistic integrity. It’s as if Reid checked all her critical thinking out at the door, eager to lump together Trump, Musk, and, of course, Hitler into a neat little conspiracy package appealing only to her dwindling fans.

Megyn Kelly recently highlighted how Reid’s narrative seems designed to throw fuel on the fire of racial discord instead of fostering meaningful dialogue. With viewers fleeing MSNBC in droves—over half the audience vanished recently—one might think the network would reconsider its approach. But as Reid’s antics show, MSNBC is less interested in truth and more committed to perpetuating its own narrative.
Perhaps Reid is counting on a general decline in viewer IQ to keep her ratings afloat. Or maybe she’s just playing her part in a tragicomedy, seemingly oblivious to the repercussions of weaving history into today’s political fabric without a shred of accuracy. One thing is for sure: if Reid hopes to resonate with those who truly understand the implications of turning remembrance into mockery, she might be in for quite the rude awakening.
