Governor Murphy, trying to salvage some shred of dignity, signed an executive order in 2022 to commission the study, probably hoping it would paint his administration in a more flattering light. Murphy pines that during the pandemic, New Jersey exhibited great leadership and that the report just pointed out some “gaps in preparedness” and “structural deficiencies.” It’s like when your mom tells you that your room is messy, but you argue that it’s just “strategically disorganized.”
