In a twist of events that left many liberals up in arms, tech CEO Elon Musk’s recent social media antics prompted threats of a mass exodus from his platform. Even The Washington Post announced a temporary halt in their advertising on X (formerly Twitter) due to Musk’s decision to share a meme related to the Pizzagate conspiracy theory. The controversial memes, which have since been deleted, featured images of former ABC News reporter James Gordon Meek, who was convicted of child pornography charges earlier this year.
Not stopping there, Musk took shots at social media’s fact-checking system, which prior to his intervention, was mainly controlled by mainstream media outlets. Alongside these memes, Musk also shared a Pizzagate-themed meme that sarcastically suggested the theory was debunked by a mainstream media that employs actual child predators. Screenshots of these memes were widely circulated on X.

Prior to the meme sharing spree, Musk cryptically questioned whether he should be more cautious with his X posts. Keith Olbermann, a left-wing former MSNBC anchor and podcaster, launched a scathing attack on Musk, declaring that he would no longer participate on the platform. Olbermann even labeled Musk as an anti-Semite, following the Tesla CEO’s recent visit to Israel, where he expressed support for the Jewish community facing the ongoing threat of violence from Hamas and other terror groups.
Olbermann’s reaction ignited a wave of other leftists vowing to follow suit. The Washington Post, while pausing its advertising on the platform, remained active on X as of Wednesday morning. It seems that Musk’s trolling has stirred up quite the storm, leaving the online community divided and tensions running high.
