Once again, the political left is indulging in theatrical victimhood as they lose ground on the political battlefield. Recently, a former congressman decided to sling accusations at anyone who would listen, claiming that America’s original sins of racism, sexism, and anti-LGBTQ sentiments are being swept under the rug. The spectacle is a typical move from someone who now finds themselves without a congressional seat, possibly hoping to stir the pot enough to find a new place at the table.
It seems that whenever progressive voices run out of practical arguments, they whip out the mighty sword of “systemic oppression.” According to the former congressman, we are a nation riddled with hatred towards anybody who doesn’t conform to certain antiquated ideals. What might truly astonish the unread masses is the insistence that this deeply ingrained racism, referred to so dramatically, is the shadow lurking behind every health crisis in the black community, from heart disease to diabetes. Is there a link that America has been missing, or is this just another attempt to shift blame from personal responsibility?
It’s almost curious how often conservative voices are blamed for not holding each other accountable while the left completely ignores the accountability that should exist within its ranks. This former congressman bemoans the so-called ill management of racism within the party but seems reluctant to address how similar scapegoating tactics have become a common trope amongst progressives. Hyperbole has become the favorite tune for those who lack tangible solutions.
Moreover, how is it that being shielded from hearing a derogatory term somehow becomes the cornerstone of health and well-being? It borders on absurdity to suggest that avoiding slurs equates to some newfound state of immortality. While it’s acknowledged that discrimination leaves a bitter taste, the argument presented seems to leap into the realms of fantasy, missing any grounding in everyday reality.
In the fantasyland of the aggrieved former congressman, you get the sense that their narrative suggests it’s only through embracing their view of the world that America can be a better place. However, one might argue that a land built on opportunity indeed requires tenacity and perseverance, not seeking refuge in divisive rhetoric. The dialogue we need isn’t filled with sensational accusations but rather a productive discourse that strengthens unity and focuses on initiatives that genuinely uplift individuals, regardless of color, creed, or political alignment.
