In a classic display of what can only be described as European fecklessness, NATO’s much-vaunted military “show of force” in Greenland fell apart faster than a cheap Scandinavian shelf. German troops, presumably there to bolster Denmark’s sovereignty, packed it in and left just 44 hours after they landed. That’s less time than it takes to binge-watch a streaming series. This hasty exit raises eyebrows and questions about Europe’s commitment to anything that resembles strength or reliability.
Imagine the scene—icy Greenland, the strategic Arctic, and a world watching as European forces enter stage left and then slip back out, stage right. Some show of solidarity that turned out to be. The great European excuse? It’s anyone’s guess. Perhaps it wasn’t fashionable enough. Or maybe there’s a shortage of proper winter gear for these soldiers of a thousand jokes.

The backdrop to this rapid retreat is especially critical as President Trump has been eyeing Greenland’s massive potential. The left loves to deride Trump’s ambitions as absurd, yet they chicken out at the mere thought of actually defending anything important. NATO, always good at talking the talk, proved once again it’s terrible at walking the walk. Who’s surprised, though? Europe specializes in empty gestures and virtue signaling, not tangible outcomes.
Denmark was left standing alone while the world chuckles at Europe’s lack of backbone. The true threat to peace and democracy isn’t always across enemy lines but often lies in the indecisiveness and spinelessness of our so-called allies. It’s time we stop relying on NATO’s paper tigers who can’t even hold their ground for more than two days without packing up and going home.
What kind of sick joke is this? An alliance built on the shaky foundations of weak will and weaker resolve. When will the Western world wake up and realize that defense means you actually have to commit to defending something? Isn’t it time we stop pretending that these globalists have America’s interests at heart? If this is how our allies act, who needs adversaries?
