In a new book by journalist David Sanger, he talks about how China and Russia could be big dangers for the United States. Russia is having troubles in Ukraine and is spending a lot of its military power without any progress. Even so, Russia has nuclear weapons, which are a big danger for America and its friends. America has been dealing with this threat for many years.
China is a different problem. It is increasing its power in Asia and might try to take over Taiwan. China is also good at hacking into American computers and stealing information. This hurts America’s security. They even stole plans for a new American fighter plane, the F-35, and tested it when the American defense secretary was in China. This is a big challenge to the U.S.

The F-35 program in America has not been doing well. The plane is not ready for missions most of the time and needs a lot of maintenance. The government’s report says that the F-35 program is not meeting the military’s needs. Lawmakers are getting impatient and are demanding answers about the plane’s problems.
The F-35 program’s issues could make America weaker against enemies like China. Lawmakers and military leaders need to fix the problems with the F-35 and make sure it works well. Otherwise, America might fall behind and struggle to defend itself.
