The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals smacked down California’s absurd ban on gun advertisements in junior sports magazines, making a clear stance against the liberal agenda to suppress our Second Amendment rights. The three-judge panel ruled back in September 2023 that California’s ban is “likely unconstitutional” and refused to entertain any nonsense about reducing gun violence among youth. Judge Kenneth Lee, a Trump-appointed hero, fired off a powerful majority opinion, firmly declaring that California can’t have it both ways—allowing minors to use firearms for lawful activities while banning truthful advertisements about it. This victory for common sense and freedom came after the case of Junior Sports Magazines, Inc., v. Bonta was brought by the Second Amendment Foundation and the California Rifle and Pistol Association. These brave defenders of our rights took on the ridiculous Marketing Firearms to Minors Law, and the Ninth Circuit’s decision to deny a rehearing en banc is a sweet, sweet slap in the face to the anti-gun crowd. Alan Gottlieb, the executive director of the Second Amendment Foundation, rightly pointed out that the Ninth Circuit appears to have grown a backbone by refusing to hear this case en banc, signaling hope for a future trend of upholding our cherished Second Amendment rights.
