No Biden Impeachment Evidence, But Clock’s Ticking!

In a turn of events that may surprise some conservatives, top tax and law experts told Congress on Thursday that impeaching President Biden might not be the best idea yet. There were some who agreed that Hunter Biden's actions were questionable enough to warrant further investigation, but they said that the information we have now does not support impeachment.

Professor Jonathan Turley of George Washington University said that he thinks there needs to be more proof before impeachment can happen. He did say, though, that the House had already done enough to start an impeachment investigation into President Biden's behavior. It looks like Turley is saying, "Sure, that's some strange behavior, but let's not judge just yet."

Four witnesses spoke at the meeting. Three were called by Republicans and one by Democrats. It's strange that none of the witnesses said that impeachment was necessary right now. But Bruce Dubinsky, an accountant who has worked on government investigations before, raised concerns about the Biden family's network of shell companies. He talked about the risk of fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, and other illegal activities that are common with shell businesses. The question that Dubinsky put forward was: Is there really a fire behind the smoke around the Biden family's business?

Dubinsky stressed the importance of a probe that was fair, clean, and not affected by politics. A case has been made by Republicans that Hunter Biden bought power and made money by giving foreign companies access to his family. The main question is whether or not President Biden was at fault. Michael Gerhardt, a law professor from the University of North Carolina and a witness for the Democrats, said that Republicans might be interpreting the facts differently because they have ideas about them.

Gerhardt agreed that the accusations are against Hunter Biden, but he insisted that they don't go far enough to implicate the president for Congress to start an investigation. In a made-up story, Hunter Biden was caught speeding in a car that himself and his father owned. Gerhardt said that going after the father in this case would not be fair or smart. He told them not to use the same reasoning for impeachment because that's not how the law and the impeachment process should work.

Even though these expert opinions might not match what conservatives expect, they add an interesting point of view to the current debates about what the Biden family is doing. We won't know if and how these investigations will go until they happen.
