Governor Kristi Noem was not holding back when asked about the possibility of former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley being chosen as Donald Trump’s running mate. Noem, a staunch supporter of Trump, made it clear that she believed it would be a huge mistake for the former president to choose Haley as his running mate if he wins the Republican nomination.

During an interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling, Noem stated, “If he picked Nikki Haley, would that be a mistake?” to which she bluntly replied, “Yes.” She went on to express her disagreement with the idea and emphasized that she had numerous disagreements with Haley over the years, questioning which version of Haley would show up each day. Noem accused Haley of being a chameleon, changing her persona to suit her political ambitions.
The South Dakota Republican did not hold back, admitting that she had several disputes with Haley and could not predict how Haley would behave each day. Noem adamantly voiced her disapproval of the potential pairing, stating that there were many other viable options for Trump’s running mate.
The discussion about Haley as a potential running mate gained traction after reports from Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) campaign suggested that this position might be Haley’s ultimate goal. Additionally, there were rumors that Trump had been considering the idea and that some of his allies were striving to quash the possibility.
Despite her strong opposition to Haley, Noem made it clear that she would continue to support the ticket if Haley were selected. She reiterated her unwavering support for Trump, acknowledging that, as president, it’s ultimately his decision to make.
With Noem and Trump set to speak at an upcoming campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa, the tension surrounding the potential vice presidential pick is likely to escalate. Noem’s bold stance against Haley as a running mate demonstrates the deep divisions and intrigues within the Republican party as the race for 2024 heats up.
