New York City Mayor Eric Adams is beside himself! It seems like everyone wants to come to the Big Apple, and it’s all Texas’ fault! The Lone Star State keeps shipping over illegal immigrants on buses, and he just can’t get a meeting with the White House to talk about it. He’s so stressed out about it, he’s worried about running out of money!
Adams feels like the federal government is just shirking its duties and expects him and his team to pick up the slack. So, what’s an exasperated mayor to do? Why, file a lawsuit, of course! But, of course, he’s a Democrat, so it can’t be a totally sensible solution.

So what did he do? He sued the bus companies that brought the illegal immigrants to his city. How much does he want? Oh, just a cool $700 million! And no, that’s not a typo. According to The Wall Street Journal, the city filed a lawsuit against 17 transportation companies, asking them to fork over the nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars the city claims it’s spent on the migrant crisis.
The suit argues that a law requires anyone who knowingly brings a needy person from out of state into New York City for the purpose of making them a public charge to either transport them out of the state or pay for their care. According to the suit, Texas has sent at least 33,600 migrants NYC’s way just since the spring of 2022.
But not so fast! Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, immediately fired back, calling the lawsuit “baseless” and suggesting the city “deserves to be sanctioned” in court for a frivolous claim. He even threw some legal jargon around, saying that every migrant bused or flown to New York City did so voluntarily after being authorized by the Biden administration to remain in the United States.
Adams has been complaining for a while about the White House’s lack of effort in dealing with the border crisis, but he’s blaming Texas for all of his city’s problems.
The governor’s statement noted that as authorized migrants, they have the constitutional authority to travel across the country and Adams is interfering with that. But Adams continues to cry foul and is placing the blame on… you guessed it, Texas.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, also a Democrat, is standing by Adams and is echoing her full support for his lawsuit. It seems like neither New York nor Chicago want to take responsibility for the mess and are hell-bent on pointing fingers elsewhere.
But, let’s go back for one hot second. While Texas is facilitating the movement of immigrants, they are doing so at the behest of the Biden administration. And let’s not forget that New York and Chicago are prime destinations for migrants, as they have been busy advertising themselves as “sanctuary cities.”
So, to recap: A Democrat-created border crisis overwhelms a Democrat-run city that markets itself as being a Democrat-instituted “sanctuary” for illegal immigrants. A Democrat mayor gets fed up with a Democratic-run White House and its inattention to his city’s issues or the border crisis in general. Then he decides to sue the bus companies a Texas Republican contracted to take the illegal immigrants, who were newly allowed into the country by the Democratic-run White House, to his city, where they wanted to go in the first place.
The irony is so thick that Mayor Adams won’t get it, not until he’s dug himself an even deeper hole than he’s already in, anyway.
This is just another prime example of how the Democrats refuse to see the forest for the trees. But hey, at least they’re consistent in pointing fingers everywhere except where the real problem lies!
