The progressive puppeteers in Oregon appear to be up to their usual tricks, as they concoct elaborate schemes to dismantle the much-needed immigration reforms proposed by President Trump. The irony is rich: despite the overwhelming support for these reforms among the American public, Democrats from the West Coast are ready to wage a losing battle against what the majority of folks actually want.
California has already set the stage, parading around with its extravagant $50 million budget clearly designed to “Trump-proof” the state. This decision, spearheaded by Governor Gavin Newsom and his band of merry men, has drawn plenty of raised eyebrows, especially since it was made while the state was battling devastating wildfires. But Newsom isn’t alone. His pals in Oregon, led by Governor Tina Kotek and a slew of other top Democrats, have been holed up in their little war rooms brainstorming ways to frustrate Trump’s agenda for over a year.

The Democratic strategy in Oregon resembles a poorly written sitcom, as they unveiled a so-called “sanctuary toolkit” aimed at helping illegal immigrants navigate the complexities of receiving government handouts. Talk about a misallocation of resources! Instead of focusing on the real issues plaguing their state, these politicians are doubling down on giving freebies to those who shouldn’t even be there in the first place.
But Oregon isn’t the sole state in this fight. Over in Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker wasted no time after Trump took office, pledging to thwart any effort the president made to regain control over the border. Pritzker’s fondness for illegal immigration was on full display as he reiterated support for those breaking the law while conveniently ignoring communication with ICE, much to the chagrin of citizens concerned about their communities’ safety.
Big cities like Chicago and Minneapolis are also eager to join this bandwagon of resistance against the Trump agenda. Chicago city officials are hell-bent on using taxpayer dollars to provide a smorgasbord of services to illegal immigrants, while simultaneously turning a blind eye to the crimes being committed. The city council even rejected a proposal that would have allowed ICE to deport illegals who had committed serious offenses, showing a complete disregard for public safety.
Meanwhile, in Minneapolis, law enforcement is essentially throwing in the towel on any cooperation with federal immigration efforts, enforcing strict policies that prevent officers from even inquiring about an individual’s immigration status. With Mayors like Melvin Carter leading the charge, it’s clear that Democrats in these cities are more interested in their virtue signaling than in doing what’s best for their constituents.
As Oregon, California, Illinois, and several other states get ready to double down on their defiance against President Trump’s popular immigration reforms, one can only wonder how long this restrictive resistance will last. Voters across America are watching, and these cities may find themselves held accountable at the ballot box when constituents prioritize safety and legality over reckless policies that protect criminal elements.
