In the leftist circus that is modern New York City’s art scene, they’ve plunked down a 12-foot statue of a plus-sized, fictional Black woman in Times Square. This isn’t a depiction of any trailblazing figure or an individual who’s made waves in history. Instead, it’s a random representation of what the artist and his liberal commissioning committee think deserves to tower next to heroes of American history like brave Father Duffy and the legendary George M. Cohan. But in today’s woke world, apparently embodying mediocrity is all it takes to win a place in the Big Apple’s most famous square.
This isn’t art that celebrates achievement or even acknowledges a real person whose story might inspire. Instead, it pushes that trendy narrative: pretend you’re disrupting the establishment by offering nothing of real substance and call it groundbreaking. In a world that once lauded figures for their contributions and valor, now, simply existing and checking off social justice boxes is enough.
Times Square’s website admits that the new installation is intended to overshadow existing statues of white men.

What message does this send? That being an oversized Black woman in today’s America makes you as worthy as those who wrote iconic patriotic songs or served their country with distinction? It’s yet another slap in the face to actual achievement. The left’s obsession with tearing down the very traditions and standards that built this country is apparent in their so-called art. They replace role models with mock representations, thinking it’s profound when it’s just confusing at best and insulting at worst.
The statue’s placement is also symbolic of the far-left agenda, to make a city as vibrant as New York a playground for liberal experiments. It’s these very ideologues turning America’s cultural landscapes into laughing stocks rather than places we can be proud of. Imagining how younger generations will grow up looking at this misplaced artistic glorification, one wonders if they’ll even be able to recognize America or its heroes by the time liberals are done “disrupting” everything into oblivion.
One can only wonder what’s next from this parade of progressive, anti-American nonsense. Perhaps they’ll honor a couch potato tweeting about climate change while virtue signaling just to stay woke. Our standards for greatness have sunk so low; it’s a wonder we can still see them at all. At the end of the day, one question remains: when did existing become such an admirable feat?
