Despite attempts to downplay tensions with Biden, Pelosi’s vague remarks about their relationship raised eyebrows. Her vague inklings of affection after four decades of “respect” seem more like a cover for underlying discord. The Democrats find themselves not just grappling with concerns about Biden’s viability, but also facing issues of anti-Semitism that are bubbling up in their ranks. The recent rejection of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as a VP candidate for Kamala Harris has sparked whispers of prejudice. Pelosi, quick to deny any animosity, nevertheless made a weak acknowledgment of the issue, as she hoped it wasn’t part of the decision-making process.
