In the final stretch leading up to the election, a notable Iowa pollster stunned just about everyone by predicting that Vice President Kamala Harris would pull off a stunning upset in the traditionally red state. Naturally, this prediction was instantly embraced by Democrats and the mainstream media as if it were a golden ticket to victory. However, when the dust settled, Harris not only lost Iowa but was also handed a beatdown on the national stage. President-elect Donald Trump has called for an intrusively detailed investigation into the “possible election fraud” attributed to long-time Iowa pollster Ann Selzer.
The poll in question turned out to be an absolute stinker, missing the mark by a whopping 16 points. This inaccuracy wasn’t simply a fluke, but rather a tool used by the Left to inject worry and uncertainty into the campaign’s final days, as Trump pointed out. While at it, Selzer’s dubious poll was leveraged to ramp up Democratic turnout while simultaneously trying to zap the confidence of Republicans. Clearly, it was a maneuver straight out of the liberal playbook—play dirty when the chips are down.

The infamous last-minute poll, released just two days before Election Day, claimed that Harris would defeat Trump by three points. However, on the night of the election, Iowa went to Trump faster than a cheetah on roller skates. When all was counted, Trump won Iowa by a resounding 13-point margin, almost an embarrassment to Selzer’s polling acumen, which seemed more like an exercise in wishful thinking than actual research.
The burning question remained: how was Selzer’s poll so outrageously wrong? Trump has suggested that a deeper investigation is in order to find answers, especially considering how this inaccurate data was harnessed by Democrats and their media buddies to create chaos in the electoral process. The executive editor of the Des Moines Register, Carol Hunter, has begun an examination of the poll and contended there wasn’t a single factor that led to the catastrophic inaccuracy, but rather a cocktail of factors that conspired against the truth.
In a recent post on his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed his view that the poll was utterly fake and charged that Selzer was well aware of its potential to spread fear and distrust among voters. He made it clear that he appreciates the great people of Iowa for their overwhelming support, despite what he suggested could be electoral misconduct on Selzer’s part, implying that this skewed polling has serious consequences. To add humor to the irony, Selzer announced she would no longer engage in political polling, leaving her behind as a casualty in the election war.
To cap it all off, Selzer offered a classic example of deflection by pointing out that her previous polls had shown Trump leading comfortably in prior cycles, essentially asking why he was only focused on this recent poll. Clearly, the excuses have been rolling in the same way that the election results did for Democrats—productive if nothing else but to serve as a distraction. Amidst a backdrop of zero credible threats to her safety, Selzer still claimed to have been alerted to potential trouble regarding her now infamous poll, demonstrating that she’s taking this more personally than one might expect from a seasoned pollster. Talk about throwing a tantrum when the party’s over!
