Democratic Rep. Katie Porter of California, a candidate for the state’s U.S. Senate election in 2024, has come up with another brilliant idea to distract from her lackluster campaign: age limits for the presidency and other high offices. Yes, folks, she wants to determine someone’s ability to serve based on their age. Because, you know, wisdom and experience totally don’t matter when it comes to leadership.
Democratic Senate Candidate Open To Age Limits For Office Amid Biden Health Concernshttps://t.co/zYJRxw0DhA

In a debate against her fellow Democratic candidates, Adam Schiff and Barbara Lee, Porter suggested that the public should consider age limits for high offices. Apparently, she’s worried about President Joe Biden, who, at the ripe age of 81, is apparently not fit to serve. And let’s not forget former President Donald Trump, who was a youthful 77 when he left office. Clearly, these elderly gentlemen couldn’t possibly handle a four-year term, according to Porter.
Now, let’s get one thing straight. Age does not define one’s ability to lead. It’s the track record and results that matter. And guess what? Biden has been delivering results that Porter is “pleased” with. So, why even bring up this ridiculous idea of age limits? It’s just a desperate attempt to gain attention and divert attention away from her struggling campaign.
But Porter’s remarks weren’t met with much enthusiasm from her fellow Democrats. Schiff, who is currently leading in the polls, jumped to Biden’s defense. Of course, this comes as no surprise since Schiff is a notorious Trump-hater who led the failed impeachment effort. He probably sees Biden as his own puppet to push his radical agenda.
The only one on the debate stage who had the courage to directly criticize Biden was the leading Republican candidate, Steve Garvey. Garvey stated the obvious: Biden is not in the best state, mentally or physically. But rather than focusing on the man’s decline, we should be focusing on his disastrous policies and the mess he is creating for our country.
At 50 years old, Porter is one of the younger candidates in the race. It’s clear she’s trying to appeal to the younger demographic by pushing this age limit nonsense. But let’s not forget that age doesn’t automatically equate to competence. Just look at the disastrous policies pushed by young, progressive leaders like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar.
It’s no surprise that a recent poll showed that 86% of voters believe Biden is “too old” to serve. The American people are not blind. They can see the cognitive decline and lack of leadership displayed by this administration. But instead of addressing the real issues, Porter and her fellow Democrats are trying to distract us with their ageism.
In the end, Porter’s attempt to bring age limits into the conversation is just another example of the left’s desperation. They can’t defend their policies, so they resort to personal attacks and distractions. But the American people see through their tactics and will judge based on results, not age. And that’s what truly matters.
