Vivek Ramaswamy, the former Republican presidential candidate, unleashed a striking critique of Vice President Kamala Harris’s handling of immigration policy while acting in her role as the so-called “border czar.” He did so against the backdrop of Chicago’s Democratic National Convention, a gathering ripe for exposing just how out of touch the left is with the realities on the ground.
Standing at Trump Tower, Ramaswamy made it abundantly clear that true leadership would involve Harris owning up to her failures at the southern border. Instead, she seems intent on dodging responsibility like a skilled politician—claiming she never signed up for the job description of cleaning up the catastrophic mess created by unchecked illegal immigration. Ramaswamy suggested that if you’re holding the title of Vice President, it’s simply unacceptable to blatantly ignore the consequences of policies that lead to an influx of crime and a breakdown of the rule of law in America.

Additionally, he didn’t shy away from emphasizing the humanitarian crisis in the form of unaccounted for migrant children. Recent revelations from the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General suggested that upwards of hundreds of thousands of these children have been released into the wilds of American society, risking their safety in a terrifying game of child trafficking and labor exploitation. The stark realization that these kids are now vulnerable prey is a direct indictment of Harris’s tenure as “border czar,” and Ramaswamy wasted no time in laying the blame squarely at her feet.
The former tech mogul contrasted his experience in Chicago to the current chaos, highlighting the ridiculousness of converting community spaces—like South Shore High School—into expensive migrant encampments at a staggering $7,000 per month per migrant. Meanwhile, law-abiding citizens in the same neighborhoods grapple with the ramifications of policies that prioritize illegal migrants over the safety and support of American communities. Ramaswamy articulated the frustration of residents simply trying to follow the law in a system that seems stacked against them, raising the question of who exactly the Democrats are serving with their immigration strategy.
In a biting conclusion, Ramaswamy pointed out a troubling irony that illustrated the Democrats’ diabolical priorities. By erecting physical barriers outside the DNC to keep out protestors, he suggested that they’d inadvertently aligned themselves with the very policies of former President Donald Trump, all while turning a blind eye to the actual border crisis that’s undermining American security. If only Democrats exhibited the same zeal for protecting the nation’s southern border as they do for shielding themselves from their own leftist protesters, perhaps American citizens wouldn’t be facing the current immigration nightmare.
