Rep Waltz Criticizes Harris Leadership Citing Afghanistan Withdrawal Debacle

Rep. Mike Waltz recently took a swing at Vice President Kamala Harris, questioning her qualifications to step into the commander-in-chief role. According to Waltz, the last four years of Harris’s track record, particularly in relation to the military under her and President Biden’s leadership, raise significant doubts about her capabilities. The congressman pointed out that despite her claims of being influential in high-stakes decisions, the ramifications of those decisions have been nothing short of disastrous.

Waltz’s timing couldn’t have been more spot-on, as it marked the third anniversary of Biden’s catastrophic Afghanistan withdrawal. This poorly executed plan saw the loss of 13 American servicemen and women while surrendering the country back to the Taliban, including a treasure trove of military equipment that essentially handed the insurgents an arsenal worth billions. Harris, who reportedly played a pivotal role in planning this debacle, dared to tout her involvement, proving that having the last word doesn’t always translate to sound judgment.

The planning behind this withdrawal raised eyebrows, particularly when it became clear that the withdrawal was politically timed for September 11, 2021. This meant marking a somber anniversary with an American defeat rather than the victory that a May 1 withdrawal would have celebrated, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s demise. The unanticipated delay allowed the Taliban to gather strength during what is known as the “fighting season,” ultimately leading to a swift collapse of Afghan forces. Proving the age-old adage true — timing is everything.

Waltz did not shy away from pointing out that Harris explicitly called herself “the last one in the room” when pivotal decisions were made. This decision-making process, as publicly aired on CNN, saw Harris confidently asserting her comfort with Biden’s Afghanistan strategy.
However, being “comfortable” with a disastrous policy speaks volumes about the current administration’s ability to prioritize national interests.

As if questioning Harris wasn’t enough, Waltz also turned his sights on her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, for allegedly embellishing aspects of his military service. Questions arose about Walz’s credibility concerning his military rank and decisions surrounding his retirement prior to deployment, not to mention his troubling ties to China. With a backdrop of promoting Chinese propaganda in schools, some are left wondering whether he can truly fight for U.S. interests on the global stage.

In a political landscape where handing the reins to unqualified individuals seems more the norm than the exception, both Harris and Walz illustrate the perils of electing leaders who prioritize optics over effectiveness. While President Trump offered a mix of unpredictability and decisiveness during his tenure, it remains to be seen how the current squad will navigate the complex web of international relations — assuming they can find the time between photo ops and hashtag campaigns.
