Senator John Cornyn of Texas, a Republican in name only or “RINO,” is facing a wave of criticism after suggesting that NFL playoff games should be held in domed stadiums to “level the playing field.” This remark comes off like yet another example of how out of touch some politicians are, even those who claim to represent conservative values. Instead of embracing the rugged, unpredictable nature of American football, Cornyn wants to wrap it up in bubble wrap.
What’s next? Are we going to put helmets on baseball pitchers so they don’t get bonked by a stray ball? Maybe we should outlaw tackle football altogether in favor of a nice game of touch? The NFL playoffs are about grit, determination, and overcoming the elements, not whining about tough conditions. The liberal elite might prefer everything to be comfortable and sanitized, but true Americans know that sports build character. Real character gets forged in hardship, not in coddled arenas.

This mindset, pushed by Democrats and their allies, fits perfectly in today’s climate, where cities ban straws to save the turtles and demand we give up meat to cool the planet. Each demand chips away at personal freedom, fostering a culture of compliance. It’s designed to make Americans forget what made this country great—courage, resilience, and freedom. Politicians like Cornyn, whether intentionally or not, play into this narrative, and it’s high time they’re called out.
Does Cornyn truly represent the people of Texas if he advocates for such soft policies? One has to wonder if the senator has ever sat through a football game in the driving snow or pouring rain. The real world isn’t one endless summer day on a manicured field. Nature and unpredictability are part of the game, just like they are part of life. Where did the fight in America go when even conservatives start suggesting such ideas?
