RNC Demands Proof of Citizenship in Eight States to Protect Election Integrity

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is sounding the alarm on election integrity, proving yet again that they remember the core principle of democracy – only citizens should have a say in how the country is run. In a move that should come as no surprise, the RNC fired off a letter this week to election officials across eight states demanding proof of citizenship for voters. After all, allowing non-citizens to have a voice in American elections is about as logical as letting a toddler steer a school bus.

This initiative was sparked after the Minnesota GOP unearthed an alarming incident: a non-citizen residing in the U.S. received a ballot and was ready to weigh in on the primary election. One would think that basic safeguards would be the norm, but in Democrat-led states, it seems more like an ongoing circus. The RNC sent their demands to the secretaries of state in California, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, and Wisconsin, states particularly notorious for their lax voter registration processes.

RNC Chairman Michael Whatley did not hold back in addressing the issue. He emphasized that it is illegal for non-citizens to participate in elections, yet Democrat officials seem keen on dismantling any semblance of election integrity. It appears that their solution to electoral security is to create an open-door policy for anyone and everyone, regardless of citizenship status. One has to wonder if they believe that anyone living in the country should have a voting slip, as if selecting the next President is just a friendly neighborhood block party.

Meanwhile, the RNC pointed out some noteworthy actions in Ohio and Virginia. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, for instance, took decisive action by booting nearly 500 non-citizens from the voter rolls. Virginia’s Governor Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares showed their mettle by identifying and removing over 6,300 non-citizens. This indicates that while some states are tightening their belts and ensuring that only Americans vote, others continue to tiptoe around the issue, allowing non-citizen registrations to flourish.

In Tennessee, the Coordinator of Elections went a step further, sending out letters to 14,000 suspected non-citizens, asking them to provide proof of citizenship. The common sense here is astounding. Secure elections start with secure voter rolls, and if the Biden administration won’t step up to the plate, then it’s left to the states to take action. Let’s face it: if people don’t belong on the voter rolls it’s time for them to be shown the door. In the words of the RNC, having confidence in the integrity of our elections is imperative. If only more officials would join in the fight to make sure the person voting truly belongs at the polling place.
