Democratic mayors of sanctuary cities across the country are facing a harsh reality as Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to transport migrants to their cities. In a warning issued on Monday, Gov. Abbott made it clear that he has no plans to stop transporting migrants out of Texas. He argued that overwhelmed Texas border towns should not bear the burden of President Joe Biden’s open border policies. Abbott plans to continue the transportation mission until the border is secured.
Gov. Abbott’s message is reminiscent of frustrated parents dealing with out-of-control teenagers throwing parties. He is essentially telling sanctuary cities that they need to take responsibility for the guests they invited. The situation is both serious and ironic, as these mayors are now facing the consequences of their own actions.

One example is New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who has been vocal about the impact of Biden’s immigration crisis. However, back in 2019, when he was the Brooklyn Borough president, Adams issued an open invitation to immigrants, stating that they were “always welcome” in the city. Now that Abbott is sending migrants their way, Adams is singing a different tune, expressing concern about the strain on resources and the need to spread the burden among the entire country.
It’s funny how quickly politicians change their tune when faced with the ramifications of their own policies. These sanctuary cities proudly declared themselves as havens for illegal immigrants, but now they are running out of space and money to support them. The days of virtue-signaling about compassion are over, and the reality is starting to set in.
Growing up and facing the consequences of their actions isn’t as easy as these mayors thought it would be. It serves as a cautionary tale for those who wish for open borders without considering the practical realities. Be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it.
