Amy Schumer, famous comedian and notorious liberal, found herself in the spotlight for more than just her humor recently. After appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” viewers couldn’t help but notice Schumer’s puffy cheeks, leading to a flurry of online mockery reminiscent of a Cabbage Patch doll. But Schumer, in true liberal fashion, used this opportunity to play the victim and advocate for women’s health.

Taking to Instagram, Schumer attributed her swollen face to an autoimmune disorder and called out the insensitivity of internet trolls. Of course, she had to bring gender politics into the mix, complaining that historically, women’s bodies have received less medical attention than men’s. I mean, seriously? We all have our health issues, Amy. No need to use yours as an excuse for attention.
Schumer went on to preach about self-love and acceptance, as if we needed another reminder to embrace our flaws. Look, it’s great to be confident and comfortable in your own skin, but let’s not pretend that a swollen face should be praised. It’s okay to acknowledge when something doesn’t look quite right.
And let’s not forget about Schumer’s not-so-covert liberal agenda. From her infamous anti-Trump rant in 2016 to her advocacy for pro-choice candidates during her pregnancy in 2018, she has never been one to shy away from pushing her political views. Even the left has started to distance themselves from Schumer, with her recent criticism of Hamas drawing scrutiny from her own side.
But hey, let’s not focus on all of that. Schumer would much rather divert our attention to her new TV show, “Life & Beth.” She took the opportunity to remind us that she created, wrote, starred in, and directed the show. Bravo, Amy. We’ll try to shift our focus to your latest endeavor, but don’t expect us to forget about your liberal agenda anytime soon.
In the end, Schumer’s attempt to turn her puffy cheeks into a feminist statement fell flat. It’s just another example of a celebrity using their platform for political gain. Maybe next time Amy will realize that sometimes, it’s better to just laugh it off and move on. After all, isn’t that what comedians are supposed to do?
