Stand Firm! Supreme Court Halts Gun Control-Focused Missouri Law!

The United States Supreme Court has made a big decision regarding gun control laws in Missouri. The court has refused to reinstate a state law that prohibited state and local law enforcement from enforcing federal gun control laws. This means that Missouri law enforcement will now have to follow federal gun control laws.

Now, why is this a big deal? Well, the law in question, called the Second Amendment Preservation Act, was enacted last year. It declared certain federal laws, like ones requiring gun registration and record-keeping by gun dealers, to be “infringements” on people’s right to bear arms. It also prohibited the state from hiring former federal employees who had enforced these laws. And, get this, it even allowed citizens to sue local police agencies for $50,000 if their right to bear arms was violated.

But, alas, a federal judge nominated by our good ol’ pal Barack Obama blocked the law in March after the Biden administration challenged it. The Biden administration argued that the law was unconstitutional (because they like to play fast and loose with the Constitution) and that Missouri can’t just nullify federal gun control laws. Biden’s solicitor general, Elizabeth B. Prelogar, made it clear that while Missouri can express its opinions about the Second Amendment, it can’t refuse to follow federal law.

You know what this all means, folks? It means that the big, bad federal government can now crack down on gun control in Missouri. Say goodbye to your freedoms! But hey, at least we have a Supreme Court that understands the importance of upholding federal law, even if some people don’t like it. Keep fighting the good fight, conservatives!
