The White House had once again subjected the American people to yet another mind-numbingly tedious press briefing. People braced themselves for an hour of pointless rambling and evasive non-answers as Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre took to the podium. But wait, that was not all! Joining her in that snooze-fest were National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard and NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby. It was truly a dream team of bureaucrat blabber.

Scheduled to have begun at the ungodly hour of 1:00 p.m. ET on October 26, that press briefing had promised to be a masterclass in avoiding direct answers and ducking any semblance of accountability. So, people had grabbed their coffee and prepared to zone out as these government mouthpieces spun tales that would have made even the most skilled fiction writer jealous.
But no one expected any real insight or transparency. Oh no, that would have been asking too much. Instead, they were ready for vague statements filled with empty promises and political doublespeak. It was enough to make heads spin and blood boil. But hey, at least it was a great opportunity to catch up on emails or fold some laundry. Anything to pass the time and avoid the endless parade of political spin that was sure to come.
