In the ongoing battle against the so-called “fake news” media, the Trump White House continues to stand firm, armed with a formidable team that knows how to take on outlets like CNN. Unlike the fiasco that was the Biden administration’s communication strategy, which showcased public relations amateurs, Trump’s crew is seasoned in the art of debate. The result is a clear distinction: Trump’s representatives can articulate their points and challenge the narratives that the mainstream media is so fond of spinning.
Recently, Stephen Miller, Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff, found himself in a fiery exchange with Brianna Keilar from CNN that lasted nearly 15 minutes. Throughout the dialogue, Miller displayed a mastery over the discussions regarding government functions and the hirelings who report directly to the president, all while Keilar appeared increasingly bewildered. At one point, it felt like she might just throw in the towel and exit stage left. Miller highlighted the ongoing work of Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, dismissing any suggestion of wrongdoing. Instead, he pointed out that these initiatives aim to uncover how the Washington swamp has squandered taxpayer dollars, a fact that even some Democrats can’t help but support.

Miller’s response to Keilar was particularly memorable when he commented on the panic that CNN seems to have over temporary interruptions in federal employment. It almost seemed like a personal jab at the network’s dramatics over government shutdowns and budget cuts. The reality is that for the average American, a little trimming from the bloated federal budget is less of a crisis and more of a long-awaited relief.
In a moment that would make any fiscal conservative smile, Miller pressed Keilar on why she wasn’t celebrating the budget cuts aimed at reducing waste and corruption. After all, if she agrees there’s a surplus of inefficiency in government spending, wouldn’t the prudent course of action be to applaud the reforms being instituted? Instead, the establishment press clings to their predictable tales of doom and gloom, desperately trying to defend their long-standing narratives that fall apart under scrutiny.
The juxtaposition between Miller’s comprehensive, fact-based advocacy for cuts to wasteful spending and CNN’s all-too-familiar defensive posture perfectly illustrates the uphill battle that the media faces. As the Department of Government Efficiency digs deeper and finds more evidence of waste and corruption, it becomes increasingly difficult for CNN and their ilk to maintain their incredulous views without facing public scrutiny. In short, Miller’s messages are resonating, and the more successful the reforms become, the more CNN looks like a fish out of water.
Miller’s performances not only showcase the contrast between his administration’s approach and that of the previous one but also expose the weaknesses in the establishment media. The American public’s frustration with waste and inefficiency in government is palpable, and the defenses that CNN tried to mount haven’t just been ineffective; they’ve been laughable. As Miller continues to shine a light on the waste, the media might want to consider a new angle—or risk being left behind in the dust of history.
