Supreme Court Betrays Gun Owners, Thanks Barrett & Roberts!

The Supreme Court has declined to stop the ludicrous crackdown on so-called "ghost guns" by the Biden administration, dealing a depressing blow to the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Who were the two justices who supported the liberal wing, by the way? John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett are the only two. What a startling development.

Let's start by talking about the term "ghost gun," which was probably created by proponents of gun control who wish to frighten people into supporting their cause. These are basically firearms that were created privately, period. However, the Biden administration intends to treat firearms' parts like they were complete weapons. How illogical is that?

A onerous background check will be required of anyone purchasing a "ghost gun" kit under this new regulation. And if that weren't enough, these gun parts are required to have serial numbers as well. Because serial numbers, you know, just make things so much safer.

The really shocking thing is that Biden isn't even trying to get this regulation through Congress. That would be the legally correct course of action, but it would appear that this administration does not prioritise observing the law. As an alternative, they have implemented a new regulation through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) that fundamentally alters the definition of a "firearm" in federal law. Discuss executive overreach.

Fortunately, a federal court had the good judgement to call Biden out earlier this year for his overreach. The judge correctly noted that Biden's description of a "firearm" conflicts with the common and legal definition of the term. Biden wants to go beyond that and control non-functional parts as well. Congress clearly mentioned "frames and receivers" in its definition of a firearm. It is an appalling abuse of authority.

But Biden, who is always looking for ways to take away the rights of law-abiding people, appealed the decision to the Fifth Circuit. Once more, he was turned down. His plan can proceed because the court declined to overturn the judgement. at least momentarily.

In usual form, the White House presents itself as being strong on crime. They contend that this decision will aid in the fight against the alleged proliferation of unserialized, privately manufactured "ghost guns" in crime scenes across the nation. But let's face it, there is no connection between this and crime. The key word is control.

Fortunately, this is not the final call on the issue. This case will probably return to the Supreme Court for a decision on the merits. And Biden won't have any luck after that. Hopefully, the court will recognise his attempts to violate law-abiding citizens' rights and terminate this authoritarian craziness once and for all.
