The EU’s Electric Car Mandate: A Looming Disaster for Everyday Europeans

The EU’s latest attempt to dictate automobile emissions is nothing short of ludicrous. Their brazen plan to phase out combustion engines by 2035 is not only incredibly short-sighted but also economically disastrous. Conveniently ignoring the pleas of European automakers, Brussels initially pushed the ban without leaving room for reality—a reality where much of Europe lacks the infrastructure for an all-electric future.

Who suffers? Every day Europeans. While Germany, France, and the UK might have a smattering of charging stations, the rest of the continent, including countries like Spain and Italy, is woefully unprepared. Eastern Europe is miles away from being able to support such a drastic shift. The EU’s top-down mandate is a glaring example of liberal overreach, prioritizing a utopian vision over practical, common-sense solutions.

Adding insult to injury, the anticipated EV sales explosion has fizzled. Recent reports show stagnation as consumers cling to their trusted combustion engines and hybrids. Even with the UK government’s aggressive targets, EV sales fell short, making those ambitious goals by 2030 appear like pure fantasy. Liberals insist on talking up an EV revolution, while the numbers tell a different story. Operating more on hope than hard facts, it’s clear their ideology is out of touch with everyday needs.

Meanwhile, China is playing the subsidies game to gain an edge, positioning itself as a global EV powerhouse. Yet, they still struggle with pollution from coal-powered electricity, a telling sign of the hypocrisy and complexity in going “all green.” Let China oversaturate its market; its pollution problem undermines its so-called environmental commitment.

While the EU fiddles with its nonsensical mandates, one has to wonder: When will they wake up to the real needs of their people? Are we really going to let misguided bureaucrats dictate our livelihoods in their pompous pursuit of globalist, feel-good green policies that leave us with nothing but empty wallets and cars running on empty promises?
