In the modern age of media hysteria, there’s something quite telling about where the conversation around free speech and religious beliefs has gone, especially when it comes to the progressive playground known as “The View.” Once again, the co-hosts have blessed us with their enlightening wisdom by dragging Jesus Christ himself into their arguments on gender and sexuality. One can only admire their audacity in trying to claim Jesus would be front and center at a pride parade. It’s almost as if they’re unaware of the basic tenets of the religion they’re discussing.
Specifically, Sunny Hostin, one of the co-hosts, passionately claimed that Jesus would be the “grand marshal” at such an event. Interestingly, this assertion seems deliberately ignorant of traditional Christian teachings. Christianity, for thousands of years, has characterized pride—a sort of pride that comes with elevating oneself beyond any moral compass or humility—as a sin. And while they flap their gums about acceptance and love, they conveniently ignore that scripture holds pride itself as something Jesus himself would advise against. The irony? By weaponizing religious figures against those who hold traditional views, these commentators reveal their sheer misunderstanding.
Apparently, they feel the need to preach about how everyone should join them in their ideological parade. Rather than letting individuals hold differing beliefs or express dissenting opinions, there’s a demand that everyone must not only respect but affirm these views. If someone dared to have a personal conviction, expressing it is instantly deemed an offense. Why can’t their progressive paradise tolerate a little pushback? Instead, we hear cries of woe over perceived intolerance, as they simultaneously dismiss the beliefs of millions.
Moreover, this narrative circles back to the age-old debate around free speech. Whoopi Goldberg has unfurled her banner in the name of censorship, declaring that not all speech is “okay” free speech. This proclamation echoes through the halls of every overzealous censor who’s ever tried to squash opposition. The truth is, free speech has never been about shielding yourself from opposing views or uncomfortable truths. Embracing such a spineless stance robs societies of honest discourse. Yet, from their view, Twitter is now a tangled mess simply because their cherished echo chamber is finally open to voices they’d prefer silenced.
With Elon Musk shaking up the social media scene, some are clutching their pearls as figures like Goldberg announce their departure from Twitter. Why? Because the risk of hearing differing opinions is simply too scandalous. If the slightest push of the ideological envelope causes such tremors among left-leaning elites, one can’t help but wonder: was the fortress of progressive ideals ever sturdy? Their stronghold, once impenetrable, now has a gate ajar, allowing for a diversity of thought they seem ill-prepared to confront.
As the saying goes, sunlight is the best disinfectant. It’s through open discussion and the free exchange of ideas that truth can illuminate the shadows of ignorance. The panic that their worldview won’t survive the test of open dialogue only underscores that perhaps it wasn’t as robust to begin with. Ultimately, for society to advance, it requires more than just willful platitudes from a televised roundtable—it demands a respect for truth and the courage to engage with it, whether or not it fits a particular agenda.
