In a recent social media post, comedian Theo Von didn’t hold back his opinion on President Joe Biden, stating that he believes Biden has dementia. Von expressed his frustration with what he sees as a shared pretense among many that the president is mentally fit. He even went as far as likening Biden’s handlers to captors inducing a form of mass “Stockholm syndrome” in Americans.
While it’s unclear what specifically prompted Von’s post, he is not alone in his concerns about Biden’s mental fitness for the presidency. Republican Rep. Greg Murphy, who is also a licensed M.D., has previously voiced similar doubts. Murphy, who has experience in the medical field, commented on Biden’s attempts to appear youthful through plastic surgery. He believes that while Biden may be trying to hide outward signs of aging, the internal mental decline is inevitable and bound to worsen.

In an article from Axios, writer Alex Thompson highlighted Biden’s quick temper, which some aides reportedly try to avoid by bringing a colleague along to shield them. While “bad temper” isn’t listed as a symptom of dementia, “agitation” is, according to the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Tanveer Ahmed, a psychiatrist, added that Biden’s tendency to confabulate or make up stories might also be indicative of dementia, although he has not personally evaluated the president.
Murphy went on to suggest that Biden is not actually in control of the executive branch, instead serving as a puppet for a progressive left committee led by figures like former President Barack Obama. Whether or not these claims hold merit remains to be seen. One thing is for sure though, the debate over Biden’s mental fitness for office is far from settled, and it seems that individuals from different backgrounds, including comedians and medical professionals, are expressing their concerns.
