In a heart-stopping incident in Versailles, Ohio, a truck driver narrowly escaped a collision with an oncoming train. The whole ordeal was captured on video by Isaiah Vanderhorst, a bystander who happened to be filming a train with a special paint scheme. The footage shows the truck driver crossing the railroad track when the gate suddenly slams down on the top of his cab, causing him to panic and flee from the scene. Moments later, a train collides with the abandoned truck, sending debris flying everywhere.
He took one look down the tracks and realized that he needed to run.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident, as confirmed by the Village of Versailles EMS. The truck driver and all occupants of the train were accounted for and unharmed. Surprisingly, the truck driver seemed oblivious to the approaching train and failed to notice the railroad gates descending. While it is unclear why he didn’t hear or see the train, one thing is certain: he was incredibly lucky to escape unscathed.
Despite the dangerous nature of the incident, social media users couldn’t help but find humor in the situation. One can only imagine the truck driver’s reaction when he realized what was happening. Losing a truck due to a misjudgment at a railroad crossing is certainly not the ideal day for anyone, but at least he had the presence of mind to get out of harm’s way.
It’s a reminder that life can take unexpected turns, and sometimes, we are just fortunate to escape with minimal damage. In this case, the truck driver had a close call but emerged uninjured. Let’s hope he learns from this experience and exercises more caution in the future.
