Former President Donald Trump wasted no time attributing blame to President Joe Biden for the recent Hamas attack on Israel. Speaking at a rally in Waterloo, Iowa, Trump pointed to Biden's prisoner exchange with Iran as a factor enabling funding to reach the terrorist organization.
Trump claimed that the prisoner trade had resulted in the release of $6 billion in previously sanctioned funds to Iran. Addressing the crowd, he remarked, "I wouldn't be surprised if a portion of that substantial wealth found its way into supporting this aggression," suggesting that Iran used the funds to aid Hamas.

Never one to hold back, Trump also critiqued Biden's handling of other international issues. He asserted that under his own administration, events such as the Hamas attack, the conflict in Ukraine, and Chinese aggression toward Taiwan would not have transpired. In his characteristic manner, Trump criticized the current administration, characterizing it as having a "grossly corrupt and inept president."
The White House, however, refutes any link between the unfrozen Iranian funds and the Hamas attack. The National Security Council spokesman stressed that not a single dollar had been utilized and that the funds were designated solely for humanitarian purposes, such as providing food and medicine to the Iranian people. Nevertheless, Republican figures like Governor Ron DeSantis have utilized the $6 billion figure to lay blame on the Biden administration.
Meanwhile, President Biden condemned the Hamas attack, categorizing the group as "terrorists." He referred to the assault on Israel as "appalling" and expressed his unwavering support for the country. Despite Biden's strong rhetoric, Trump's criticisms regarding his handling of international affairs continue to resonate with conservatives. Will the Biden administration take more robust action against the threats faced by our allies? Only time will reveal the answer.
