The border crisis isn’t just a talking point; it’s a full-blown catastrophe that could fit neatly in a horror movie script. President Trump has taken to the stage again, this time with a spotlight on a grim issue plaguing the border: the trafficking of women for the sex trade. While some might not have anticipated women-traffickers making the bingo card, it appears Trump is more than willing to highlight this dark corner of reality. Whoever thought the “border czar,” a title Kamala Harris has inadvertently bestowed upon herself, would be central to such a serious discourse must be preparing for a real trip to comedy club night.
At a recent event with Sean Hannity acting as a reluctant referee, Trump unleashed another round of his signature campaign promises, focusing on border security and the absurdity of current policies. While the mainstream media might be busy covering everything but the aforementioned issues, the audience, described as “unmistakably friendly,” seemed to revel in his commitment to hand over this urgent matter to the border czar who has, quite literally, checked out on the job. Watching Trump tackle this subject while the audience cheered made it clear that real Americans recognize the stakes, unlike the higher-ups in D.C. playing political roulette.

Hannity, bless his heart, was in full support for the spectacle and may as well have worn a superhero cape to the event. If ever there was a time to show off those journalism skills that girls at school used to swoon over, this was it. However, some in attendance were left wondering if they were tuning into a Hannity special or simply watching DJ’s “America’s Got Talent” audition. For those hoping for a specialized press briefing on important issues, their resolve to listen to Hannity’s long-winded interrogatives might be tested.
And while Trump was in the spotlight, there appeared to be more interruptions than at a toddler’s birthday party, raising the question of whether the audience needed some serious coaching on manners. With every heartfelt sentiment, the crowd made it clear they hadn’t come to listen to the formalities of political drudgery but to support the man who actually seemed to care about the real issues affecting their lives. If only someone could have muted those microphones, that might have saved a few ears from strain.
Amidst the distractions, Trump managed to mix in a nod to serious topics, including attempts to tackle the ongoing scourge of school shootings and international disorder, promising a “better world.” Yet, one has to wonder, when will the liberal elites show their faces and engage in real conversations about these issues instead of hiding behind their twitter feeds and buddying up to the Hollywood elite? Perhaps when they realize that focusing on real menaces like women-traffickers at the border is more rewarding than endlessly discussing the Met Gala’s outfit choices.
As the Trump train rolls on, it is clear that the audience is with him, not just for the long-form answers but for the fight against a series of challenges that no one else seems willing to tackle. In a world filled with mainstream distraction, the real heroes are those willing to acknowledge and confront tough truths. For that, they’ll keep showing up, cheering and shouting down any attempt to avoid the real issues facing the nation.
