The Trump administration has finally put its foot down and told the airlines: Enough with the woke nonsense. For years, Americans have watched in disbelief as radical leftists pushed dangerous ideas about so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” into almost every institution—even the cockpit of our airplanes. Instead of picking the best pilots, airlines have been encouraged to check off boxes. Forget skill or experience—if you fit the right political category, you shoot to the top of the list. And they call that “progress.”
Now, sanity is making a comeback. The Trump administration is demanding that airlines once again prove they are hiring and promoting pilots based on merit, not identity politics. What a concept! The left would rather risk passenger safety than dare go against their DEI dogma. But regular Americans, the folks who actually fly on these planes, have always understood what the elites refuse to admit: when you’re 35,000 feet up in a metal tube, there’s no room for mistakes or social experiments. People want the best pilots, not the most “diverse” ones.

It’s telling that as soon as common sense prevails, the left starts screaming. The virtue-signalers in the media and globalist boardrooms don’t care—they probably fly private, anyway. For them, this is all about power and control, not safety. Real Americans, meanwhile, are the ones squeezed into the seats, counting on competence—something the left treats as “problematic.” Liberals would rather chance a disaster than admit their woke obsessions are wrong for America.
Let’s be clear: every time a flight is delayed for a safety check, that’s the system working as it should. People gripe about waiting, but deep down, everyone knows putting safety first is non-negotiable. So why should who sits in the cockpit be any different? Pilots need real skills, training, and experience—not a politically correct résumé. Anything less is an insult to passengers and a threat to public safety.
Americans aren’t stupid. We know that checking woke boxes doesn’t keep planes in the sky. Only merit does that. The Trump administration is right to slam the brakes on the DEI madness and get back to basics—competence, skill, and accountability. If that offends a few leftist academics, too bad. Would you want your own family’s lives in the hands of someone hired for anything less than being the very best? It’s time to put passengers over politics. Why did it take this long for someone in Washington to say what every frequent flyer already knows?
