Trump Administration Revives Rigorous Immigration Enforcement

The Biden administration’s immigration policy, it seems, has flushed the proverbial immigration toilet straight into the Oval Office. In stark contrast, the Trump administration is rolling out a comprehensive approach to tackle illegal immigration that would make one think the federal government is operating on all cylinders to re-establish any semblance of border integrity. Under Trump’s directive, it turns out, nearly every government agency has traded in its usual mission to don the immigration enforcement blue.

This all-out effort to vacuum up illegal immigrants has led various federal departments to jump into the deportation fray. The State Department promptly began making deals with Central American countries to accept deportees, helping to improve cooperation with nations historically resistant to taking back their own citizens. It’s as if the administration was taking notes from a bad reality show titled “Extreme Makeover: Deportation Edition.”

The Pentagon isn’t sitting idly by either. With troops bolstering the border under Trump, Air Force planes are now hauling deportees faster than an impulsive Amazon Prime delivery, contributing to a surge in deportation flights. Their commitment to border security reflects a military operation that feels more like a call to action than a casual weekend barbecue. Remarkably, the Department of Defense appears to have traded in its camouflaged attire for a more robust role in the nation’s border enforcement efforts.

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice is not missing a beat. Attorney General Pam Bondi is taking aim at sanctuary cities that have become quite the cozy accommodations for illegal immigrants. Lawsuits are flying faster than the left can pitch a fit, directing blame toward jurisdictions unwilling to cooperate with federal authorities. This no-nonsense approach marks a distinct departure from the prior administration’s tactics and a shift towards accountability, which many conservatives find refreshing.

What’s more, even the IRS has decided to get in on the action by targeting employers who hire illegal workers. It seems that, under Trump, there’s no escape hatch—federal agencies are bestowing themselves with multipurpose badges to seek out wrongdoings related to immigration. The Department of Health and Human Services even went so far as to put a pause on providing legal services to unaccompanied migrant children, signaling that the administration is serious about rolling back any immigration handouts.

As intriguing as this new immigration enforcement circus may be, the scope and tenacity of the current administration’s efforts highlight a critical difference in priority. Many may argue that we’re witnessing the resurrection of immigration law enforcement unlike anything seen before, while citizens—especially those from border states—are left cheering on the sidelines. In a time when immigration has spiraled into a contentious issue, Trump’s caravan of federal agencies appears ready to take illegal immigration head-on, without apology, and that is a victory in itself for many conservatives.
