President Donald Trump’s administration has taken a bold step to address rising antisemitism on U.S. college campuses, launching investigations into five universities notorious for permitting anti-Jewish sentiments to flourish. This initiative is a continuation of Trump’s campaign promise to clamp down on the rampant hostility toward Jewish students that has turned some campuses into breeding grounds of hate.
The investigation will be led by the Department of Education, which thankfully still exists and isn’t just a front for progressive indoctrination. The universities under scrutiny include prestigious names like Columbia and UC Berkeley, as well as Portland State, Northwestern, and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. These institutions have long been known for tolerating harassment and enabling an environment where Jewish students feel unsafe. One can only wonder how they have allowed this situation to fester and, as a result, deprive the college experience of many.
Craig Trainor, the acting assistant secretary for civil rights at the Department of Education, highlighted that many universities have ignored widespread antisemitic harassment. According to Trainor, these schools allowed illegal encampments and violent protests to disrupt campus life last year, almost pushing Jewish identities underground. It’s a sad state of affairs when anyone feels that they have to hide who they are while pursuing their education.
House Republicans are taking an aggressive stance on antisemitism, pointing to a report from the House Education and Workforce Committee that criticized university administrators for failing to protect Jewish students amidst all the chaos of pro-Palestinian protests. On the flip side, Senate Democrats appear to be more interested in covering up this ugly problem than addressing it. The disparity in responses reveals a troubling lack of accountability on the left when it comes to antisemitism.

In a separate, yet equally important initiative, Trump has appointed civil rights legend Leo Terrell to lead a multi-agency task force dedicated to combating antisemitism more broadly across the nation. Terrell, who has a colorful history as an attorney and former Fox News contributor, aims to oversee efforts that include the Department of Education and Health and Human Services. His entry into this role signals a commitment to actively combat the spread of hatred wherever it occurs. The glaring inaction from the Biden administration makes it clear that the current government has opted to turn a blind eye to this issue, perhaps influenced by its own political leanings.
Antisemitism, in any shape or form, is an affront to the American ideals of tolerance and freedom. The proactive measures taken by Trump’s administration, combined with Terrell’s leadership, stand as a much-needed counterbalance to the sweeping negativity that has become all too common on college campuses. It remains to be seen whether these efforts will ultimately make a difference, but at least they signal an acknowledgment of the problem, unlike the silence emanating from the Biden administration. If nothing else, conservative America has something to cheer about in an ongoing battle against this insidious ideology.
