A Colorado lawsuit aiming to kick Donald Trump off the 2024 presidential ballot in the state has taken a comical turn. Lawyers for the former president have apparently thrown in the towel and admitted that the case was indeed filed in the correct jurisdiction. Talk about a legal mix-up!
The lawsuit revolves around the plaintiffs’ claim that Trump’s actions after the 2020 election, including the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, make him ineligible to hold public office under the 14th Amendment. Similar arguments have been made in other states like Michigan, Florida, New Hampshire, and Arizona. It seems like these anti-Trump folks are really stretching to find a reason to keep him out of the political ring.
At first, Trump’s lawyers tried to get the case moved to federal court, probably thinking they could find some legal loopholes there. But Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, smartly, argued that state courts were more than capable of handling claims related to the 14th Amendment. Kudos to her for not falling for Trump’s tactics.
In a surprising turn of events, the Trump team has now admitted defeat and dropped their opposition to returning the case to state court. Looks like they finally realized they were barking up the wrong legal tree. Or maybe their legal theories weren’t as strong as they thought?

While this case may be nearing its conclusion, it’s worth noting that similar attempts to block Trump from future presidential ballots have been popping up all over the country. Sadly for Trump’s opponents, a recent lawsuit in Florida was dismissed due to lack of legal standing. Looks like they’ll have to come up with a better strategy if they want to keep Trump out of the race.
Trump and his team are not holding back in their response to these lawsuits. Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung called them an “absurd conspiracy theory and political attack,” while Trump himself labeled them as “nonsense” and “election interference.” It’s clear that Trump is not going down without a fight, and he’s not afraid to express his opinions about the Left’s tactics.
In the end, this entire attempt to use the 14th Amendment as a weapon against Trump is nothing more than a desperate ploy by the Radical Left. It’s just another trick up their sleeves in their ongoing mission to silence Trump and anyone who supports him. But Trump won’t be silenced, and neither will his millions of supporters.
