Trump Calls for Peace as Europe Sleeps Through Missile Strikes on Ukraine

In yet another brutal episode of Russia’s relentless campaign against Ukraine, missiles rained down on Kyiv and other cities, leaving eight dead and entire neighborhoods in ruins. As smoke rises over Ukraine, where is the decisive action from the so-called global leaders in Europe and beyond? The answer is obvious to many: nowhere. Europe continues to drag its feet while innocent Ukrainians suffer, sidelining their responsibility to stand up against tyranny on their doorstep.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump made his voice heard. It’s a breath of fresh air to have a leader who isn’t afraid to call out Vladimir Putin and demand an end to this senseless violence. Trump’s approach cuts through the diplomatic pandering that just ties everyone up in knots. He didn’t mince words: the attacks are unnecessary and tragic. He’s advocating for peace, which is exactly what’s needed—but where’s Biden’s voice in all this chaos? Silent, as always.

Then there’s Ukraine’s Zelensky, who can’t stop adding fuel to the fire. His stubborn refusal to be pragmatic about Crimea risks plunging his nation further into turmoil. Trump is spot on when he points to Obama-era failures that lost Crimea in the first place. For Zelensky, touting nationalist rhetoric over realistic peace efforts is a mistake. His grandstanding won’t reclaim lost lands nor will it safeguard his people’s future. What Ukrainians desperately need is a plan, not pridefulness.

While Trump pushes for a resolution, Americans back at home are justifiably questioning why our nation should bear the cost of European inaction. We keep hearing about the need for worldwide support, yet it’s the U.S. taxpayer who seems to foot the bill time and time again. Allies who claim to share our values stand idly by, twiddling their thumbs, while we take the lead. Enough is enough. Europe wants peace? Then Europe should take responsibility.

Tragedies like these missile strikes are wake-up calls. They should provoke reevaluation of global strategies and cause us to ask who’s really benefitting from endless conflicts. Are leaders pushing peace, like Trump, being heard? Or are the powers that be too invested in chaos to seek resolution? The ball is in the court of those who talk big but act small. What will it be—a commendable display of leadership worldwide or more blood spilled with no accountability?
