Trump Cuts US Agency for Global Media, Ends ‘Radical’ Broadcast Waste

The Trump administration has officially put a big red stamp on what many have considered a long-overdue housecleaning by announcing that the U.S. Agency for Global Media will be discontinued. This includes infamous entities like Voice of America and Radio Free Europe, which have long been viewed as more aligned with radical agendas than the values of the hardworking American public. In a bold executive order, the President classified the agency as one of seven government departments deemed “unnecessary,” a label that fits like a glove on this bloated bureaucracy.

The official announcement stated that the non-statutory parts of the agency would be cut down to the bare minimum required by law, which is a refreshing break from the usual government overreach. In an age when efficiency should reign supreme, trimming the fat off this organization is a welcome measure. Why should taxpayers fund an agency that has failed to represent American values? A senior White House official didn’t mince words when discussing the matter, describing Voice of America as “out of step with America for years.” Sounds like it’s been more of a “Voice for Radical America,” according to those in the know.

Other agencies fell under the same axe, including the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and even the prestigious Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. It seems President Trump is willing to face the music and pick up the baton on draining the swamp, even if it includes high-profile cultural institutions. Kari Lake, who is a special adviser to the U.S. Agency for Global Media, jumped on the bandwagon, asserting that this was all part of the plan to reduce the size of government. She boldly stated that the agency would focus solely on mandatory functions, and essentially told the wasteful spending to hit the road.

The agency’s record seems to back the administration’s decision, given the “egregious findings” that have surfaced over the years, including blatant security violations and infiltration by foreign spies. How is it supposed to promote American values abroad when it can’t even keep itself clean at home? On top of that, the agency reportedly leases an expensive high-rise building without broadcasting capabilities. Talk about wasting taxpayer dollars—no wonder they’re viewed as a drain on the system.

In the aftermath of the executive order, staffers have been placed on paid administrative leave, a scenario that would surely raise eyebrows among hardworking citizens who see their tax contributions go down the drain. While there may be a few dedicated employees trying to do right by the mission, one can’t ignore that this agency, as a whole, has shown itself to be “irredeemably broken.” In the eyes of the Trump administration, the mission now focuses on telling America’s story effectively while cutting out those layers of rot and inefficiency.

Kari Lake also remarked that dismantling the U.S. Agency for Global Media is a significant step towards restoring the greatness of the United States. Here’s hoping that this clean slate allows the government to pivot from a laughable “global media” strategy to something that actually resonates with what America stands for. With these changes, the American people may finally see their government working for them rather than against them, bringing much-needed accountability to a sector that has lost its way.
