With a wide grin on his face, Trump Jr. responded, “Didn’t really know he was running,” followed by laughter. He then playfully expressed his concern for where Pence’s meager 0.03% of support will go, sarcastically remarking that it won’t make a significant difference. Trump Jr. seemed unfazed by Pence’s departure from the race.
This lighthearted exchange between Trump Jr. and Bolling highlighted the strained relationship between Pence and his former boss, Donald Trump, following the January 6th Capitol riot. It’s clear that the Trump family holds a low opinion of Pence and his political aspirations. Trump Jr. made it clear that, in his eyes, the primary is essentially over and his father is miles ahead of the competition.

Indeed, the numbers seem to support Trump Jr.’s confidence. Donald Trump currently boasts a commanding lead in the race for the 2024 Republican nomination, with an average lead of 46.5 points, according to RealClearPolitics. Meanwhile, Pence’s average polling numbers, although not specifically mentioned, appear dismal in comparison.
With Pence out of the picture, attention now turns to other GOP candidates who may follow suit. Speculation swirls around figures like Gov. Doug Burgum of North Dakota, who is often perceived as out of his depth on the national stage, or former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has undoubtedly felt the void left by Donald Trump’s absence in the first two debates.
