Donald Trump, the man who has become the indomitable force of American politics, is bouncing back yet again. Following an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, one would assume that the Secret Service would have been on high alert. But no, they’ve been busy, not with Trump, but with Jill Biden. Yep, the same Biden who’s more known for her questionable fashion choices and trying too hard to be relatable.
It turns out the Secret Service, the taxpayer-funded bodyguards who are supposed to protect our leaders, decided it was more important to guard the First Lady while she was galavanting around Pennsylvania, campaigning for her husband who can barely find his way off a stage. Susan Crabtree of RealClearPolitics dropped this bombshell, noting that resources normally devoted to protecting Trump were diverted to handle Jill Biden’s security detail. Because nothing says “secure the future of our nation” like following protocol at a Sons and Daughters dinner.

So one might wonder why there was a sudden security shuffle when both Joe Biden and Donald Trump were in the same state. Crabtree’s sources within the Secret Service community suggest that following outdated protocols led to the lapse. But who needs dedicated Trump protection detail when you can have Jill Biden’s third visit to Pittsburgh this summer covered to the nines?

How about giving a little more time for a security sweep, huh?

Maybe it’s time the Secret Service updated their playbook and remembered that their duty includes those who are still shaping the political landscape—not just those filling a ceremonial seat at a dinner. Americans need answers, and they need them soon, before this clown show results in a tragedy that can’t be undone.
