President Trump has been working hard to make important changes during his time in the White House. One big achievement has been appointing judges who follow the rules in the Constitution. Now, he is choosing people to help him shake things up in the government. But there is one role he hasn’t filled yet: Secretary of Education. This job is crucial because education matters a lot.
One reason education is so important is what happened in Loudoun County, Virginia. Some bad choices by the school board led to harmful incidents that were kept secret. This is a big mess that needs to be fixed. People often say that “politics is downstream from culture,” which means that what happens in society affects politics. Right now, Hollywood and higher education are two big areas pushing for change.

Many colleges are sending students out into the world with degrees that don’t help them find good jobs. Some of the classes they take seem pointless. Instead of spending lots of time and money in college, some skills can be learned better through hands-on experience. This is where Secretary of Education can make a difference. By supporting other forms of education and letting states take the lead, things might start to improve.
There are rules already in place that could be used to make colleges rethink how they operate. For example, programs that discriminate or limit free speech could be stopped. This could shake up the way things are run on college campuses. With these changes, students might get a more balanced view of the world around them. While fixing education won’t solve every problem, it’s a good start. Things can get better if we work on the easier problems first.
