Donald Trump has grabbed headlines once again with his latest executive order: renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” While patriotic Americans might cheer this bold move, the anti-American brigade immediately sprang into action, frothing at the mouth over what they see as an affront to their beloved status quo. To them, this act is nothing short of sacrilegious, a reminder of how a straightforward love for one’s country can throw their progressive world into disarray.
In the aftermath of Trump’s proclamation, reactions from major corporations are already rolling in. Google has jumped on board, ready to embrace the name change. The tech titan announced it would officially adopt the term “Gulf of America” once government sources have updated their documentation. Not stopping there, Google also mentioned it would revert to calling Denali by its original name, Mount McKinley, in what can only be interpreted as a desperate attempt to curry favor with the pro-American crowd.
However, not everyone is so ready to salute the flag. The Associated Press, a stalwart of mainstream media, took a decidedly muddled stance. In a move that can only be described as an editorial dodge, the AP declared that while it would acknowledge Trump’s name change, it would continue to refer to the body of water as the Gulf of Mexico for the sake of “recognizability.” This assertion reeks of cowardice; if a news outlet can’t stand behind the change, calling it a name they consider more familiar, they might as well hang a “sorry, not sorry” banner over their desks.

And what of Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook? Under the leadership of its CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the social media giant seems to be aching for a pat on the back from Trump. The optics of Zuckerberg attempting to sway public opinion in favor of Trump include his own magnanimous gesture of ditching DEI initiatives. It’s as if he’s begging the former president to consider him for an invite to the next Mar-a-Lago party, willing to roll over for the commander-in-chief who champions genuine American values.
Ultimately, only time will tell if the “Gulf of America” designation catches on like wildfire or fizzles out into the ether, but one thing is for sure: watching the mainstream media squirm over this change is a guilty pleasure for patriotic Americans. The very idea that Trump’s administration is promoting names that reflect national pride is enough to send the left into a tailspin. There’s nothing like a little patriotic fervor to stir the pot, and the left’s overreaction is pure evidence that they’re not quite ready to put the “America” back in their vocabulary.
