The Trump administration, in a move sure to ruffle the feathers of the liberal elite, demonstrated bold leadership by releasing the FBI records on Martin Luther King Jr. Naturally, the family of MLK Jr. and some civil rights groups disagreed with this decision. But this is America, where transparency trumps hushed secrets. It’s about time the fog of political correctness cleared away, revealing the truth behind these historical records.
For too long, the left has sanitized historical figures to fit their narratives. Revealing these documents is about exposing the intricacies of the past—good, bad or otherwise. The liberals argue for keeping these records secret under the guise of protecting legacies while ignoring that history is all-encompassing. What they fear is real scrutiny and the unraveling of their tightly woven mythology of untouchable historical heroes.
Predictably, the leftist civil rights groups voiced opposition to this decision. Why? Perhaps because it pulls back the curtain and invites discussion and debate—concepts that the left shuns when they don’t fit their agendas. The cry for transparency should not be limited to convenient situations. If one truly believes in democracy, truth-seeking must be a central pillar.

The mainstream media, as expected, will paint this release as some kind of oppressive act. But remember, this is about holding powerful institutions like the FBI accountable. The same FBI that conducted questionable practices—practices the left would denounce today if it served their political ends. Yet when it comes to historical figures, they prefer to sweep uncomfortable truths under the rug.
This bold move by the Trump administration champions a rightful cause—truth and accountability. As conservative Americans, we know that history should be told in its entirety, not censored for appeasement. Are we to believe that preserving a sanitized history is more important than striving for transparency and truth?
