As former immigration judge Andrew Arthur pointed out, the discrepancies in asylum grant rates among judges in the same court tell a story of how ideologically motivated decisions can warp the system. He suggested that the Trump administration should dig into the nitty-gritty to root out any fraud and inefficiency. For those who think this is just a right-wing fantasy, remember: allowing fraudsters to take advantage of America’s compassion is a direct slap in the face to law-abiding citizens who believe in the integrity of the immigration process.
Despite the legal status of these immigration judges as executive employees, many in the mainstream media have opted to twist the narrative. They label Trump’s actions an assault on judicial independence.
